According to statistics from the beginning of the year of Handicraft and Wood Industry Association (Hawa), the export of processed wood products has reached more than 3 billion USD. In particular, while the other export sectors have difficulty in order, many domestic wood processing enterprises signed the Manufacturing Contracts for the whole year. According to forecasts, exports of furniture will reach to $ 6.5 billion this year, increasing 20% in comparison with in 2013. “Currently, Vietnam has become the largest furniture export country in ASEAN, ranked second in Asia and 6th in the world. The wood export prospect in 2014 is very bright with positive news in the import markets such as Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.
It is an opportunity to assert themselves
Wood and wood products stands at 5th position in the 10 key export sectors of Vietnam. It is expected that exports of this products would reach USD 15-20 billion in the next 10 years. Currently, wood and wood products of Vietnam have been present in more than 100 countries and territories.
The implementation of commitments TPP will create transparent and competitive investment environment, which will attract more domestic and international investment into the wood processing industry of Vietnam. “This is a great opportunity for Vietnam to expand the market and the market of wood and wood products. If strongly investing and boosting export, enterprises will hold market easily.
